As irony would have it, I have a cold. In summer. I had Wednesday off to help GB finish cleaning our rental and woke up with the sorest throat in the world. By mid afternoon I was walking around carrying a tissue box and plastic bag tucked into my shorts. As luck would have it I had a dinner party to organise. My cousin was over from the UK so I had invited her, my aunty & uncle, my mum, my two sisters and one of their partners over for dinner. So I'm catering for 9 people in a house that's barely unpacked in a kitchen I've yet to use. I decided to make canneloni with grilled mediterranean vegies. In my mind I thought we'd just do the vegies on the BBQ. Of course I'd totally forgotten that we had natural gas outside for the BBQ in the old place but not in the new so we had to convert back to gas bottles which we hadn't done yet. Awesomesauce. So I smoked out the kitchen cooking vegies on a skillet and a frypan. Needless to say the canneloni was a bit dry by the time I'd finished! But it was pretty successful and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves which was good.
I took Thursday and Friday off as I was barely able to keep my head off the pillow. On Friday, GB put shelving up in our "harry potter room" (the room under the stairs). We're extremely cupboard deficient in the kitchen so this was a way to combat those issues. He did an amazing job. Saturday morning we woke up to voicemail on both our mobiles. It seems the department we work for required as down in Kirup for a bushfire which was happening down that way. Although we weren't on call, the one that was had been deployed elsewhere so they were scrambling for numbers. I was in no condition to go so I had to say no to that chunk of double time (the wedding fund groans) but GB took off. So it was just me and Westie for the weekend. I think she also has a cold as she has been sneezing heaps lately!
On Sunday I decided to get out of the house and took my sisters to the Bridal Expo at Burswood. I think it would be worth it for people who are ready to book things but as we weren't I was a bit disappointed to not even get a free bit of cake for my $15 entry! I did talk to a woman who worked for the House of Tartan about taking in GB's kilt as it's massively too big for him now. She said it would probably cost $300. I reckon it would be cheaper to hire one!!! Also spoke to a place that does personalised chocolates. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm So before the expo we went to an italian place for lunch. My fettucine did NOT go down well (although it came up quite well!) which was disappointing.
I cancelled our appointment with Watson this week as I am happy with the fill removal from a couple weeks ago and GB is happy where he is at the moment. So I've made an appointment for mid March which will be 1 year on from the band! Less than 3 weeks till we're off to KL and Phuket - I can't wait! I'm going to look SO much better in my bathers than I did last time we were there!
Hope everyone else is travelling well. I'll jump over to your blogs and check up on ya. Don't forget to leave a comment for me - I'm a comment whore!

The aftermath
Ok, I'm feeling slightly better this morning. The pain from Monday in the quads (I think) is no worse which is good. I have however strained my groin I think. I did feel a bit of a twinge last night when I did one of the side lunges so that's causing a few issues this morning but a lot better than last night when I thought I may be a parapalegic!
GB said this morning that he had the best night's sleep in months last night primarily because I couldn't move! Lovely!
Anyway, must get back to work. Busy busy busy. I'm in a working group that has put together 1 week's training next week for clerical and admin officers and I have to present 2 of the topics. I still have to write up the presentations!!!
Cheerio

Dinner
I forgot that I took a pic of the dinner I cooked for us a few nights ago. It was out of one of the weight watchers cookbooks I have. It was a small veal steak with salsa, avocado and cheese on top. I made some potato dish to go with it.. I know not very healthy but I did use extra light cream! And that is a side plate not a dinner plate to give you an idea on size. It was yummo too!!
Just spoke with our PT and confirmed our next session for next Monday after work. We're going to do it Monday and Thursdays which gives us a good break in between.
Work is giving me the poops today. Why do people have to be so annoying?? Grrrr

Recovery Day 12
Hey kids,
Back at work today - bummer! This past 10 days off work, even though I've been sore and grumpy at times has been a really terrific break. GB and I just hanging out together, watching tv and movies, playing with Westie, going for walks, relaxing it's been really great.
So it took me most of this morning to go through all my emails! It's weird, the past week or so I could go from having my morning Optifast shake for breakfast around 8.30am and go through till 3pm before I started getting hungry. Today though I had my shake at 7am, was hungry by 10am so I had a Multi-V juice box; had a cup a soup for lunch at just after 12 and here it is, 2.15pm and I'm hungry AGAIN!!! What's that about?
My scars are healing nicely, mostly. The larger ones are anyway. The small one on the right is still weeping where the glue has come off and although I'm keeping it covered with one of those waterproof dressings, my skin around it is becoming irritated and red so I might go to the chemist after work and look for something else to cover it with. The others are drying up all good though.
GB is cracking on fantastically. I think he's up to about 12kgs lost. Everyone has been noticing (especially today at work). We've only told our immediate family about the surgery. We told everyone else that we went away for Easter and are on a super strict diet for at least a month (to cover invites out while we're on the fluid and mushie stages). GB did crack a kilkenny or two last night though to celebrate our purchase as we had a couple of friends over. Anyway he's looking fabulous, he's tummy is flattening and his face is so thin! I'll see if he'll let me take a pic and post it tonight. I'm so proud of him!
My weight loss has slowed down as expected - I'm at 6.7kg lost which I'm happy with. I'd like to be around 7-10kgs lost by the 1 month mark and our fill appointment.
We've both got a goal for July 26th as that's when we're off to Europe for 6 weeks. I want to lose 20kgs by then and GB wants to be around 100kg mark. I think he'll have no problems doing that at all.

Day 7 Optifast
AARRRGGGHHHH What do I have to do? 100g! I was soo good yesterday, nothing but 3 optifast meals all day and 2 litres of water! I know I'm sure it's doing the desired job on my liver but it's so discouraging seeing people lose 5-10kgs in 2 weeks on optifast and in a week I've only lost 1.3kg! I've lost more than that on a WW diet and I got to eat proper food! OK Vent over.
Graduation was nice last night. My mum, sisters and GB came to watch. Got my degrees, the boy bought me a bear, I looked like Harry Potter. Good times. Will load pics on flickr. Ironically, I'm interviewing kids for a Business Graduate position at work today. Was interviewing 7 but now down to 4 as 3 have pulled out. 1 of whom was due to interview this morning at 9.30am and just didn't rock up - no call or anything. Bloody kids today!
Anyway, better take this opportunity to do some work!
